Ryan built us a dream pool! We no longer need to go on vacation because our backyard went from nothing to paradise!

How did it go? Let's put it this way. I've lived in TX for 5 years now and have read ALL the reviews for every pool company. I had given up. The one thing I'd wanted my entire life, a pool, was just not going to happen. Not one person had all good reviews and some of them were horrendous. Another company built my neighbor's pool and with all the issues she had I was for sure not going to go with them.

Then one night I stumbled across Tropical Pools of Austin. No bad reviews, only wonderful ones. And they were all correct! Ryan was nothing short of awesome! Professional, accurate, knowledgeable, easy to work with and easy to get a hold of. I don't think there's another company out there where the owner answers the phone or calls you back in such a timely manner. Not only is Ryan highly skilled in pool building, he does all the plumbing himself, which is just more assurance that nothing will go wrong. He was ALWAYS on site when anything was happening and always inspected everything himself.

I should add, there is another house in our neighborhood who still has the Gunite forms up - both pools were started at the same time and ours has been done for months. And it's July 10th. From dig day until filling the pool day was exactly 5 weeks. Ryan stays on top of everything and does an awesome job of it!

My husband was skeptical at first as I'm the one who's always wanted a pool. He has since said numerous times how much he loves it and how we're living in our own little paradise. He's also swimming in it nightly :-) The multi-colored pool light lights up the whole backyard in the most amazing display of colors with different settings. As gorgeous as it is during the day, at night it comes alive!

There is nothing I would do differently after this experience. I'm so happy I stumbled upon Ryan and now have my literal dream pool! Ryan is first class and I HIGHLY recommend him to anyone wanting their own personal oasis.

We could not have had a better experience!

Tropical Pools of Austin does a phenomenal job of working with the homeowner!

Tropical Pools of Austin does a phenomenal job of working with the homeowner, does what they say they are going to do, and provide a top rated pool. I highly recommend Ryan Marsh (owner)/Tropical Pools of Austin, TX.

We had originally contracted another pool company (Texas Custom Pools), which wound up taking all of our money, doing partial work, and not completing the pool. What workmanship that they did do was somewhat left to be desired and a lot of that had to be redone, or replaced.

I would strongly recommend when selecting a pool company, check references, check Angie's List, converse with other folks that have had pools built, definitely do your due diligence. It is a big investment and you don't want to have to pay for it twice. Unfortunately in the state of Texas there is NO governing entity that over sees pool builders and from a legal stand point of view, not much there either that can be done. That also can turn into a big money pit.

So with all of that being said, I was really hesitant to have to start all over again with another pool builder after what we had just experienced. We meet Ryan Marsh, explained everything that we had just recently went through, and basically explained to him that we really didn't want to have to go through all of this again. He sympathized with us and told us that he would work with us every step of the way...AND HE DID!!

He worked up a quote for us to finish the pool, which consisted of having to pressurize and validate the plumbing that was in the deck, plumb everything external to the pool equipment, redo the spill way between the hot tub and pool, replace quite a bit of the coping, provide and wire up all pool lighting, plaster the entire pool and hot tub, provide and set all the pool equipment, and validate correct operation, and then educate us upon taking care of a brand new pool.

He worked with us financially every step of the way. He did EVERYTHING he said he was going to do, and quite honestly it really turned out to be somewhat of a pleasant experience. Ryan ran into some additional snags that we weren't expecting, like a leak in one of the skimmer pipes that was already buried in the concrete decking, and he was able to get a leak detection person out there to pinpoint almost exactly where the leak was for minimal deck demolition and reconstruction. Ryan and Tropical Pools of Austin did a FANTASTIC job every step of the way, kept us well informed, was out there every day working, letting us know what all was going on, and had us in our pool within 4 to 6 weeks.

There have been a few follow-up issues and Ryan has been there quite expedient to get these fixed and wrapped up. These guys are definitely a GREAT company to work with and will be there every step of the way during the pool construction and will also be there every step of the way when the pool is finished and something needs to be fine-tuned. These guys are here today, tomorrow and in the future whenever you need them.

Would I recommend these guys? ABSOLUTELY!!

Tropical pools did a great job building our pool!

Ryan is a trustworthy guy. He will do what he says he will. He answers or returns calls promptly. He shows up on time.

We told him what we wanted and he delivered. Ryan makes up a great digital design plan to let you see what the pool and landscape will look before you build. I would use Tropical Pools of Austin on any future job. He is great!

Designed an in-ground pool w/hot tub, 1100 Sq. ft. patio with tiered, stone flower beds on three sides.

The final product turned out very nice and we couldn't be happier. Ryan is very knowledgeable and gave me key, important information to help me make the best decisions - economical & feature wise. He was very good at providing me multiple options.

We were in regular contact throughout the process and he would meet with me late evenings, if needed, to discuss the any questions I had.

I am very happy with Ryan and the team's work and would recommend him to any friend. He takes his business seriously and cares about his customers.

Ryan was awesome to work with from start to finish!

I almost waited too late to start the pool build, while my new house was being completed. I contacted Ryan, and he showed up in a matter of a few days to take a look at where the pool will go and to show me his past work and some ideas. I considered other pool companies but choose Ryan because my builder had nothing but great things to say about him. He gave me in-depth illustrations of what my finished product would look like and even entered the plans for my house so I could see exactly what it would look like behind my house!

Once I committed to the build, I gave him a deposit and a signed contract. He literally had his crew there the next day digging the hole. At no time was he ever behind schedule during the build, and everything he said he would do was accurate. He actually had to slow down on the build because they didn't want to finish the pool too early and end up with sub-contractors from the house construction throwing trash into my new pool. He made sure that he paced the build of my house so they were completed at the same time.

The pool and hot tub came out better than I ever imagined, and once I moved into my house he scheduled a time for "pool school" so he could show me how to run everything and take care of it. He also took care of my "Kool Cote Deck" around the pool to keep from having hot feet in the summer months.

Ryan was spot on with the entire build, and I was never left wondering if I was going to get ripped off. It was an expensive build, but he was very competitive with other pool builders. I would absolutely recommend him again, and I wouldn't hesitate to use him again if I ever needed another pool built.

I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Tropical Pools of Austin built an awesome tropical-type pool and spa with a grotto waterfall and two side waterfalls, which created a cove inside of the pool so you could sit behind the waterfall. They also built another waterfall going down from the spa to the pool. The sound of the waterfalls are so relaxing and the kids love playing in them.

They also had all of the tropical landscaping done. The sprinkler system was reconfigured with a drip system installed for the tropical plants that were potted inside the grotto and around the pool, as well as have all of the grass replaced. They also had a sound system placed in the main waterfall, around the pool and in the patio.

Ryan really takes care of his customers - before, during and afterwards. He's willing to go above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied and is more than willing to help you even after the pool is paid and finished...not a common quality with most businesses.

Like I mentioned before, he coordinated all of the work from the pool, landscaping, sprinkler system and audio along with him personally working on site to get things done. That was really important to me and he made sure all of that was done to my satisfaction, it was a huge relief not to have to worry about any of that. He went above and beyond to make sure I was happy, too, and that was because Ryan works personally on the project. I looked at several pool builders and had several bids, I made the right choice going with Tropical Pools of Austin and I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation.

The construction of the pool went really well!

Tropical Pools installed an underground pool with a grotto/waterslide. The crews were very punctual and kept the premises extremely clean during construction. They hauled off all of the material that they didn't use and the quality of the work they did was excellent.

I was very impressed that the owner was on site virtually every day that his crews were here and he always kept me up to speed with their progress. They finished everything up much earlier than anticipated, which was just a bonus to the service and quality construction that we received. Once everything was complete we received a very informative class on the operation of the system.

I would certainly recommend this company to anyone looking for a reputable pool installer.

Ryan owns every aspect of what went on with the build.

Tropical Pools of Austin built pool, grotto, hot tub, fireplace, deck and fence. Ryan had us swimming a month and a half earlier than expected (the weather worked in our favor) and he is involved from the word go. He met with us, designed and was involved daily or working on the pool until completion.

Ryan had excellent recommendations to fulfill what our family was looking for in a pool area and I could not be more pleased. I highly recommend Tropical pools if you are looking for straight forward and honest service.

    The pool design looked great!

Tropical Pools of Austin was contracted to install a new pool and spa, add additional patio and retaining wall. I received 4 bids from different pool contractors and ended up choosing Tropical Pools of Austin for a few reasons. Ryan (the owner) was right in line with the price with my other bids, but had incredible detail when it came to the design he showed me on the Pool studio software. The pool design looked great, but Ryan also took the time to give an almost exact replica of my existing covered patio (which is large 40 x 15') and included details of my furniture, fireplace, items on the mantle of the fireplace, etc., which really gave me a visual of what my backyard would look like once completed.

So the great detail in the design, the fact that he responded quickly to my estimate request, showed up to our appointment on time, and was very professional were all pluses for me. Ryan communicated with me throughout the process so I always knew what was going on. He was also on site almost everyday to make sure things were being done right and to minimize any possible problems that may arise.

The detail Ryan showed on the design carried on throughout the project with every part of the project. One of the the things we were having Ryan do for us was level our existing concrete patio so it wouldn't slope so much. When we got to that phase of the project, we found out the slope was a little more than expected and, instead of being able to put a layer of thin coat to raise the level, Ryan and the concrete contractor decided it would be best to tear out the existing patio and pour a new patio that connected to my pool decking all in one pour. By doing this, it removed the possibility of my patio cracking over time. This was an unexpected change and Ryan didn't ask for any additional money to do this, he just said, "It's the right way to do it." He just wanted to make sure it was done right so I wouldn't have the potential for any problems in the future.

There were several times when Ryan made small improvements to the project and never asked for additional money. You can tell his main objective is to make sure the customer is happy and that he is providing a quality finished product. I would highly recommend you get an estimate from Tropical Pools of Austin. You are going to get a lot more bang for your buck by going with a smaller pool company, especially with someone like Ryan who knows what he is doing and how to build a great pool.

Impressed with his professionalism and experience!

I hired Ryan Marsh as my General Contractor to complete my in-ground pool, surrounding deck and pergola, sidewalk, driveway, and road-entry stone columns.

    On the pool, he:

    • Built the shell,
    • Installed the rebar,
    • Poured a concrete base,
    • Installed the gunite,
    • Installed the pebble tec,
    • Capped the pool with the SAME stone as our house,
    • Installed a weeping wall with moss stone (gorgeous),
    • Stucco'ed exterior portions viewable, and
    • Poured a concrete pad and Installed pool equipment on top.

    On the deck/pergola, he:
    • Built/installed a wrap-around cedar deck for the pool, two levels - one level pool high, the other waist high for conversation, and
    • Built/installed a second deck closer to our home with a pergola and stone-wrapped columns.

    For the sidewalk, he:
    • Tore out our existing, builder's built sidewalk, and
    • Installed a new flagstone-capped sidewalk from our driveway to our front door.

    For the driveway, he:
    • replaced our dirt driveway with a 4" thick concrete driveway complete with a parking area, back-out zone, and a generator pad for a future generator.

For the balance of the project, he:
    • Installed 6 stone columns complete with subtle road lighting,
    • a secure mailbox, and
    • a decorative brass number plate.

Our project began earlier in the year with our hiring of a different contractor to build our pool, deck and driveway. After having numerous issues with that contractor, we received a letter stating that he went out of business and would not be able to complete our project.

Ryan Marsh and his team were already on our project site building our pool for the other contractor. I spoke with Ryan about our situation and the fact that we could not leave the pool in the state that it was in. Ryan understood our bind and, with his guidance, he helped us get the pool project back on track and finished within the original budget.

Impressed with his professionalism and experience, I asked him to oversee the rest of our project: deck, pergola, sidewalk, driveway, and column posts. Ryan agreed, providing me with his credentials (unsolicited) and patiently working with us to transfer our bank loan from the original contractor to him. Once complete, Ryan stayed on task and on budget, finishing the project exactly to my stringent specifications.

What my wife and I didn't realize at the time was, even though the original contractor walked out on us, it was the best thing that could have happened. During the completion of the project under Ryan's guidance, Ryan provide many more options regarding pool finishing, pool equipment, sidewalk stone, concrete finishing techniques, etc that the original contractor never provided. We upgraded our pool's finish from plaster to Pebble Tec, installed a new retaining wall and capped it with flag stone, installed better drainage, upgraded our pool equipment, and installed high-quality, low-voltage lighting. All of this we would NOT have received with the original contractor. The end product is fantastic, and I finally feel we have a completed home.

The only concern I have about Ryan is Ryan's drive for perfection. While applauded and even sought after, it can be a little overzealous. A few times I would catch Ryan working on our pool making micro-adjustments for better flow or trying to get our new pool cleaner to be more efficient. While the end product is nothing short of perfection, I did catch myself saying, "You really don't need to do that..." a few times. :-)

During the project's construction, I learned more about Ryan and his history. He is originally from Washington state and comes from a family of concrete specialists. He spent a considerable part of his career in Arizona building pools under a master pool builder. After coming to Texas, Ryan was immediately appalled at the poor quality of pool construction from local builders and the lack of codes that Texas has regarding pool building/concrete work. I found out that while he was not required to follow any of these rules on my project, he applied them anyway - things like minimum depths for concrete pads for deck posts, required minimum steel, etc. All in all, I trust Ryan and would definitely have him work on my home again.

A quick update as of Nov 16th, 2014: Since the pool's construction, Ryan worked with us to finish our landscaping and update our pools facade and some of the equipment. Ryan did a fantastic job finishing the area around the pool and the rest of our house. Then Ryan redid our weeping water wall feeding into the pool (Ryan didn't like the way it was originally). Now, it flows really well and looks amazing. Finally, Ryan replaced our pressure-side pool cleaner with a suction-side pool vacuum, which works MUCH better. Because Ryan did the original plumbing for the pool, it has very easy for him to do. I can't recommend him higher!

Ryan is very honest and knowledgeable about pools!

We got Ryan's name from our neighbors who had a horrible experience with another pool contractor last year that skipped town and did not finish their pool. They hired Ryan to finish their pool this year and he did a wonderful, fair priced job for them.

Our pool contractor is also out of business (why does that always happen?) so we asked Ryan to come out to check our pool. He found everything to be working fine except that our pool contractor did not install mastic between the pool and the deck, leaving a gap that attracted insects and debris. He installed the mastic in August at a cost of $350 and now our pool looks more finished. They did a great job!

Then we had the problem on Sunday, September 7, and called him about our pool equipment making noises and overheating. He said they were in the area as they were going to check on our neighbors pool, which they were finishing up. So he stopped by and spent a couple of hours cleaning our filters and waiting to see if my husband could find the parts we needed. He came back by on Monday, while we were at work, and replaced the parts as promised.

He is very honest and knowledgeable about pools. I know that our neighbors are very grateful for what he has done to complete their pool after they were stuck by the prior contractor, and now their pool looks fantastic! If we had known about him a couple of years ago, we definitely would have used him to install our pool. But at least now we have someone to turn to when we do have a problem with our pool and we trust him completely. We highly recommend Ryan Marsh and Tropical Pools of Austin!

Tropical Pools of Austin exceeded our expectations!

Tropical Pools of Austin was hired to replace our coping, seal it with top grade special sealant, clean it entirely, and spot treat areas as needed.

When working with companies in the pool industry, it can sometimes be challenging to find folks that 1) are knowledgeable in all areas, 2) can provide what they promise, and 3) deliver on time.

Ryan and the folks at Tropical Pools of Austin exceeded our expectations in all three of those areas and more. They answered every question I had about pools, even questions not relating to my pool specifically. I instantly got the feeling that I was in good hands and that their knowledge was backed up by experience. Everything turned out great and exceeded our expectations.

Plus, as previously mentioned, they needed to deliver on time. They coordinated with us and fit it into our busy schedule. That really made the process easy. I would definitely use Tropical Pools of Austin again and would certainly recommend them to anyone.
